Embedded in the Austin Community
Since relocating to Austin, TX, John has spent extensive time assembling a team of highly-skilled and incredibly talented tradesmen to complete the Bauen Builders family. For this group, it’s always perfection, pride, and passion over just a paycheck. The integrity and experience Bauen Builders bring to each project guarantee a high-quality finished product that’s built better.
John Macliver, President
John’s journey to commercial construction is unconventional. Although raised in a family of contractors, tradesmen, and developers, he didn’t begin his career in the construction industry. Early on, John recognized the importance of understanding the financial fundamentals of running a business and earned degrees in finance and math from Northeastern University. He began his professional career underwriting insurance and alternative risk platforms and over the years moved into commercial real estate development and construction.
John’s heart has always been in building things – whether it be building a team or building a structure, he revels in the process. Like his father and grandfather before him, both successful tradesmen and general contractors, John founded Bauen Builders on that passion. His wealth of experience and professional integrity are evident in the expertise, enthusiasm, and pride he brings to every project.
